What is Reiki?

Gina Rabbin, Reiki Master, Tarot reader

Are you a healer? Or have you ever wanted to explore that potential within you? Do you imagine how beneficial it would be to be able to increase your energy on those days you feel drained; or release anxiety or angst when you feel like your skin just doesn't fit; or ease aches and pains when you're having more difficulty than usual getting around? Wouldn't it be great to bring your body back into balance and feel renewed and ready to face the day...in about 20 minutes? You can do just that, and I'll teach you how.

It’s called Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”). Have you heard of it before? Reiki is an ancient, natural, powerfully gentle, hands-on healing method originating from Japan that has gained new respect in the medical community. This healing method has been shown to be effective in helping virtually every known illness and dis-ease and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki creates healing on all levels - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual - by enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Specific techniques are used to restore and balance the body’s natural life force that allows the body to experience a number of benefits including deep relaxation, faster healing, reduction in pain, balancing the chakra system, calming stress, removing emotional blocks, and decreasing side effects from medical treatments and surgeries. Reiki is also beneficial to children and animals!

Reiki resembles touch healing, though through Reiki the energy channeled into the body is more focused and directed to specific areas of the body. Because it is a very precise form of energy healing the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense but is transferred to the student through an "attunement" given by a Reiki master. This attunement allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life. The practitioner acts as a channel for the Reiki energy.

Becoming a Reiki practitioner will attune you to this healing energy that, at Level 1, focuses on self-healing. In a Reiki 1 class, you’ll learn about the history of Reiki; understand how Reiki will strengthen your immune system, reduce or relieve stress, remove energy blocks, clear toxins in the body, and increase your energy level; will receive the first level attunement that will open you to the Reiki energy; and will have an opportunity for hands on practice with other students.

I’ll be teaching a Reiki 1 class at Power of Three Center in Upland over 2 nights, on Tuesday 4/7 and Thursday 4/9, from 6 - 9 pm each evening. Becoming a Reiki practitioner will change your life, I guarantee it! Call the store at 909.921.0332 or check out the website at PowerOfThreeCenter.com to register for the class.
